A way to man's heart is through stomach?
Someone whom I know says that a way to please a man is food, which means that making a great food for man is speaking to man's heart much.As hearing that, I agreed with her but I must say that food speaks to my heart much too!!! I am sure that those whom know me close enough would remember how good food brings out sprakling eyes and a big smile on me.
I believe that food speaks to many people's heart and we can get to know cultures in different countries through food as well. As getting through photos taken by this year, I have realized that food was involved much both in my personal life and working life.
During staff training, we had a day out together with the whole staff from School of Biblical Studies, which we went to Öreckrö, an island close by Gothenburg. And Some of us were putting much effort to make a delicious Korean food. It probably took about little more than 2hours, but we were so happy to have fellowship as making food together and as sharing the meal together.
One of staff who is from Lithuania made one of typical food of their own country. The
Recently I went to Öreckrö again to have an Easter break. As a missionary within YWAM (Youth With A Mission), I don't feel much that I am living in Sweden for the most of time because there are 32 nationalites living together at the moment at the YWAM base, where I am working. It is so awesome to think about that I am living and working with people from so many different countries, which makes me thinking about the kingdom of God in a physical sense more. However, it is also great to discover some of cultures of the country where I actually live in. So, this Easter break was helping me to taste of little more of Sweden by learning how to make 'eggost' (eggcheese) and tasting special easter meals!
I was also watching how people in that island gather together to have a competition of making the biggest fire in that area.
Making bonfires started for different reasons originally, but it seems like that people are just enjoying their traditions without thinking about the meaning so much nowadays.
One thing really sad is that the traditions from Christianity for the Easter seemed not being kept by many Swedish people just as other traditions are kept, although forms and religious practices would not save people's souls.
Here is a photo of me and my boyfriend. After talking about food mostly, it feels like a bit off. But, perhaps I might have reached his heart through food being prepared by me! :) Who knows?!!

Mystery of God revealed
As preparing for teaching the book of Ephesians this fall, one thing stood out to me was that the mystery of Christ, which has now been revealed very clearly, which all Christians should be so thankful...
It seems though that it wasn't so clear to the original readers of this letter that Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus and Asia minor in 1st century.
That was one of reasons why Paul had to write this letter to them at the first place. There was division problem between the Jews and the Gentiles in the church due to their different background. It was hard for the Jews to see that the Gentiles who were so immoral and idolaters came to know Jesus and became believers. Their moral understanding was probably so low compare to the one of the Jews, even if they became Christians because the church was still pretty young when Paul wrote this letter. It was probably no more than 4years old.
So, It is not so hard to imagine that the Jews were saying to the Gentiles, "You can not be sharing same inheritance in the kingdom of God", As matter of fact, Paul himself sounded like confirming what they were thinking of: Eph 5:5 For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
However, if we read the book of Ephesians from 1st chapter to the last carefully, we can recognize that Paul says to the Gentiles again and again that they have exact same inheritance as the Jews have in Christ. How he says this again and again shows that the Gentiles really needed to hear this truth from him. (Read verses below)
Ephesians 3:3-6 how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
Perhaps, that was why Paul used the word, 'mystery'. He was saying to the them that it was the mystery to the Jews in the Old Testament times before Christ and His Spirit came. Yet, it was made known to the holy apostles (including himself) and prophets by the Spirit and he was saying that sharing the revealed mystery with everyone is his mission. (Eph. 3:7-9) Another reason why he used the word, 'mystery' was possibly to combat against the mystery religions, which people of Ephesus were being so much influenced by. So those who used to be from those religions had thought that only few special ones would have a special knowledge or mystery.
Paul's message here is that the Gentiles are having same promise and inheritance in Christ. And there is no secretive knowledge for only few special ones. The clear revealed truth is that their identity is now the beloved children of God. And he doesn't stop there but goes on further as telling them that then they have to act like one in other chapters of the book. Since they know that they are the beloved children clearly now, so they need to be walking like children of God.
Later on, Paul adds one more point of the mystery of God in 5:32. The mystery is the relationship between Christ and the church, which became one in comparison to the relationship between the husband and wife. Christ is the head and the church is body, which is one body.
So, there is no more mystery of God hidden... He loves to share the truth with everyone, to bring to light for everyone!!! (Eph.3:9)
Once again, this message from Paul encourages me to share this gospel with those who don't know what identity they have in Christ and with those who don't know that the mystery God revealed is to bring to light for everyone...
Snap shots from the previous school that we have finished sucessfully by Grace of God
As we study the book of Hosea in our class, we did a Drama to illustrate how God showed His faithful love to His children, who wasn't always faithful. This drama was showing the part that priest Hosea married to prostitute, Gomer.
Hosea 1:2 When the LORD first spoke through Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea, "Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the LORD." (ESV)

The famous prophet Jonah didn't like the mission God gave him
Jonah is known to be a great prophet to our times. It is so because he has been viewed as a faithful prophet who was sacrificial to let himself be thrown into a sea and was alive for 3days in the big fish, which shows that God definitely had a divine calling in his life to speak His divine words to a nation. And the result out of his preaching was people of the whole city, Nineveh, repented. What an anointed minister of God he was!!!
While the above description about him was somewhat true, it is also true that the book of Jonah records of how his own agendas stood up before his divine calling.
First of all, he ran away from his own country, Israel, to further-est city that he could go to, which was exact opposite of Nineveh, where God had called him to go to.
From what or whom did he run away? He ran away from the presence of God as believing that God's presence was only limited in a certain place or nation.
Jonah 1:3 But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. So he paid the fare and went on board, to go with them to Tarshish, away from the presence of the LORD. (ESV)
During the ancient time that Jonah was living, people served different gods as believing that they would protect their lives from natural disasters, diseases or/and their nation from wars. It could have been that Jonah had same belief that God of Israel protects people of Israel and He stays in Israel not in any other countries. Perhaps, he had learned that he was not limited in their own nation after the event of what was going on in the book of Jonah since God showed up with His power and words while he was in the big fish in the middle of sea and God was there in and just outside of city of Nineveh.
He may have known in the begining that his God is the God of all the earth and heavens including all people and nations, but it didn't click his mind so well since his heart was so focused to see Him as his own national God. He wanted his God to be only the god of his nation.
Second of all, why on earth did he desperately want to run away from his calling?
Perhaps, it was so because he couldn't bare to witness that God's steadfast love and grace would fall onto one of wicked and great threatening neighbor countries to their nation, Israel. It was too painful for him to accept that God's concern is bigger than his own people. He didn't want to see neighbor countries being prosper as Israel was by God's grace.
Jonah 4:1-2 But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry.
And he prayed to the LORD and said, "O LORD, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster. (ESV)
Jonah put God into his own box that God of Israel should only concern the nation Israel so He should only stay in that country. And he didn't want to accept the fact that God cares all people and all nations even if he kind of knew that (That was why he didn't want to go to Nineveh at a first place because he knew that he would forgive them if the people of Nineveh repent). His own agenda was as strong as dark deep sea that he was even hoping to die twice. Through this book, God was teaching people of Israel, the original readers of the book that God was a god of all the nations and all people whose heart is right before God that people of Israel might learn God's steadfast love and grace not limited in one nation.
And The book of Jonah brings a great lesson for us to see that our own picture of God could be so different than Who really God is just because we sometimes want God to be desperately according to our own agendas.
It is sort of encouraging to recognize Jonah's character in this way since I could see that he was a really human. Yes, he was definitely being used by God greatly and he had a really profound relationship with God since he was able to express his feelings and thoughts to him. But, he didn't have such a great love like God's.
It doesn't give me any excuse that I don't have to truly love everyone out of my whole heart because we have now the Holy Spirit living us and helping us growing into the likeness of Jesus. Yet, it does give some comfort that I don't need to beat myself up whenever I recognize myself that I don't have huge love for every single individuals and every nations on the earth.
In spite of how Jonah had his own agenda and how he wanted God to be, I believe that it counted to God that Jonah actually went to speak the words of God to people of Nineveh after of all. Obedience of him at the end in spite of all his struggles seemed being counted to Him. His obedience resulted in saving the city of Nineveh at least for about 100years.
God, let my heart be softened before You, so I would obey You with throwing my own ideas or agendas.

…Man doesn't live by bread alone, but...
What does it mean by a man live by every word coming from God???
And why did Jesus say in Matthew that as resisting Devil's temptation?
So, I had to look at the original context of the Deuteronomy text, which was Exodus 16. And then, it totally made sense to me even what Jesus meant by it in Matthew 4:4 and how the original audience in New Testament time might have understood of what it meant as well.
Deuteronomy 8:2-3 And you shall remember the whole way that the LORD your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not. And he humbled you and let you hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know, nor did your fathers know, that he might make you know that man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. (ESV)
One of themes that the book of Deuteronomy shows is 'to Remember' as God was renewing His covenant with people of Israel who were about to enter the promised land, Canaan. They had to remember how God delivered them out of their slavery in Egypt and led them so closely as providing every need. Furthermore, they also had to remember how unfaithful their parents' generation was toward God's covenant in previous years, about 38 years in the wilderness time. It shows a clear contrast between God's faithfulness and unfaithfulness of people of Israel.
In this context of the book, Deut. 8:2-3 recalls the event of Manna and explains the purpose of it. It says in Ex 16:4 that God will test them whether they will walk in God’s law or not. What we know out of Exodus 16 is that when people didn’t follow exactly according to the instruction of God, the word of God, then manna was gone bad while it was totally okay when God said them to save manna for the Sabbath day. Therefore, it shows that God was teaching them to follow every His word, which Jesus also taught us that in Matthew 4:4 as quoting the text from Deuteronomy 8:3 while resisting the Devil. Following God's commandments was something that they had to learn through this event of Manna.
Matthew 4:1-4 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread." (ESV) But he answered, "It is written, "'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'"
God was more interested in teaching them to follow His ways than interested in providing food to them if we look at carefully how He provided Manna to them and how Jesus responded after fasting for 40days. God's test, disciplining people of Israel to trust God and to keep His commandments during the wilderness time in the Old testament was being reappeared in Jesus wilderness experience for 40days, although it is recorded in Matthew as that the Devil tempted Jesus not God tested him. Jesus passed this temptation as quoting the passage from Deuteronomy 8:3.
I have always thought about how God's awesome provision was as thinking of the story of manna for the people of Israel in the wilderness. It has encouraged me to keep on believing His provision.
However, I have never thought about the purpose of manna in a way that Moses mentioned in Deut 8:2-3, which was to test people of Israel, so that they might know that man does live by every word coming from God not by bread alone. It shows that God wants us to learn not to focus on the material blessings we get from God but to focus on Himself and to learn His ways to follow. What would mean to focus on Him and to follow His ways? Perhaps, it means that we need to build up a good relationship with Him first. When we know Him better, we would be convicted better to walk in the ways of Him.. And God has clearly recorded of His ways in both in the Old Covenant and New Covenant, to love God with all our strength and to love people as ourselves.
As meditating this, I question to myself if I am focusing on God's provision or blessing part only or I am focusing God Himself and His ways to follow. It is sill not so easy to fully trust in His provision as being a missionary even if I have been living like this for more than 9 years. Yet I found myself that it is more difficult to fully trust God's guidance and to follow His ways in my daily life. And It is so easy for me to focus the material things rather than the precious relationship that I am having with God, a daughter of Heavenly Father.
I am hoping and praying that I could be disciplined in this area better, so that I won't stay being a child who is looking at only a gift, which his/her father brings, but I would become a grown up child who knows the father heart of God, giving every good gift to His children, and wants to follow His ways, loving God & people, out of the relationship that I have with Him.
I wonder how long I have to walk through in God's training or disciplining course of wilderness... Perhaps my life time...
Deut 8:5-6 Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the LORD your God disciplines you. So you shall keep the commandments of the LORD your God by walking in his ways and by fearing him.

God's love in my boots...
As soon as I realized this, I kind of told Him to give me money to show /prove His love to me out of my frustration because dealing with this issue again wasn't really fun. I was actually a bit ashamed of going through this issue again as thinking about how I have been walking with Him to teach His words, His love to others.
Next morning, I was in class and learned about God's approach to us in His love, which could be the ways in 5different love languages as if God was confirming my thoughts above. It made me pondering more of how I could feel or receive His love in my heart on that day... That pondering thought came to a conclusion on that day that one of my love languages could be 'giving and receiving'.
And as I was about to finish the busy time of the day and about to enter my house, I was trying to take off my boots. While doing that, I realized that I have been feeling something in my boots all the long, which I was thinking that I should get ride of that. I shook my boots and the next moment, I found myself not being able to believe what I was looking at... It was a 500kr (Swedish Krona) bill falling out from my boot. I was thinking perhaps someone accidentally dropping it in my boot at first thought. But after thinking over where I took off them and placed it last time I realized that it wasn't possible, which I came to a conclusion of someone putting it to my boot on purpose as a blessing. So, I had to check the other boot, which I found another 500kr bill falling out... As soon as I saw that second bill, I was being reminded of that I actually prayed or told God to prove His love to me by giving money to me not too long ago, just a day before.
It was something that God was almost ready to show or prove His love to me. Actually this event broke some strong hold of my heart, which caused me not be able to accept His love deeply in my heart. God's love is just so amazing!!!

A prodigal son story in the book of Romans
In the book of Romans, Paul addresses a disunity problem between the Jews and Gentiles in the churches of Rome. The majority of members of the church in the beginning were probably the Jews after the Pentecost event in Acts 2. However, it had been changed dramatically after Roman emperor, Claudius, decreed to expel all the Jews to be out of Rome in 49AD. They were allowed to come back to Rome after 54AD by Nero. This 5years of absence of the Jews, the majority of members of the church became the Gentiles. And they probably changed things around in how they did in their meetings.
Therefore, one of big themes in the book of Romans became a unity (equal treatment by God toward Gentile & Jew) as Paul addresses this disunity issue.
As meditating on what would have been like for the heart of Jews at the time, I was being reminded of the heart of Pharisees, which was revealed by Jesus when He confronted them with a prodigal son story in the gospel of Luke. The pharisees and the scribe were audience to this story as well as the tax-collectors and sinners. Jesus was probably pointing the older son as the Pharisees and the younger son as the sinners. The older son was really angry by the fact that their father was graciously receiving the younger son back. Just as this story, the Pharisees were really upset by the fact that Jesus were giving much attention to those sinners and proclaiming the salvation news to them. In their heart, it must have been hurtful since they were the ones who had been faithfully walking in the laws to be citizens of Kingdom of God. With their whole life, they had been devoted to God to please Him while sinners were doing whatever they wished to do. Then, Jesus proclaimed that God's salvation came to those sinners, which the Pharisees couldn't have accepted easily.
The Jews believers in Rome were probably having hard time to see God's abundant grace on the Gentile believers, whom they used to treat them as great sinners. And they were wondering about all those years that they had been trying to keep the laws to please God if that was even worth. What about their covenant, their promises, and blessings toward Israel... these questions were probably in their mind since Paul addresses them in the book of Romans. Paul didn't say that it was counted by God nothing but it was worth and holy when it comes to God's faithful covenants and the law, just as Father mentioned the older son all the things he had in his father's home were his in the prodigal son story. However, Paul pointed out the hardened heart of the Jews who didn't praise God's grace and goodness in His righteousness just as Jesus pointed out the jealousy heart of the older son (the Pharisees) in the prodigal son story in Luke 15.
Furthermore, both Jesus in the gospel of Luke and Paul in the book of Romans were strongly pointing out that the good news of salvation is for everyone who believes in Jesus Christ as the prodigal son begins with God being a Father to both sons.
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

Armenia... and the book of Jonah...
I have visited Armenian Genocide museum, which made me once again to think about natural sinfulness of human being. It was hard to even look at the photos of what happened to Armenians by Turks about 100years ago.
'God, how can any human do such a thing to another human being?'
Right after this question in my mind, there wasn't taking any second to be reminded of brutal human history, even including biblical histories from the Bible, terrible news throughout the world in the present, and my own sinfulness of heart. 'Yeah, that is why we desperately need God's grace, Jesus.... Lord, please forgive our sins...'
There was a chance for our team to teach the book of Jonah to one of churches in Armenia. One of big messages of Jonah was to go and to preach to the nations in spite of how terribly we fear about and what they have done because God's heart for everyone is same.'...for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster.' Jonah 4:2
Jonah didn't want to obey to God's commandment to preach to Ninevah, which was known as one of cruel nations at the time and an enemy of Israel because he knew that God would be gracious with them if they repent. Nonetheless, God's sovereignty taught Jonah that His love is for every single person on the planet.
I was teaching them of how we should apply the message of Jonah today and to us. Without me talking about their feeling toward Turkey, they talked about their own history, Armenian Genocide by Turks. I am not sure if the message of Jonah has meant anything to them.
But, I pray that by God's grace and power, they would be used greatly to preach His good news to everyone including Turks.
I believe that God would use this nation mightily to be a blessing to surrounding nations, mostly Islam countries.

Bible learners of Armenia!
Shnor ha Karigion (Thank you in Armenia). Some simple words we have been learning in order to feel connected with people here. Whenever, I speak little Armenian we just learned to them, they always responded us back with a big smile
Shut Hamova bait Gustem (It tastes very good but I am full). It was another Armenian sentence I have been using much, since they are so hospitable and generous. They wanted us to eat much!!!
We have been visiting to several different small groups of the church, which we have been working with here. I and our team members have been teaching the Inductive Method Overview with them last week and teaching the book of Philemon about observation this week.
They are so eager to study the Bible in spite of the fact that some older people couldn't read words well because they didn't bring their glasses. So, we had to come up with a special way of studying. Someone had to read the passage for them and they had to listen very carefully and answer whenever they recognized repeated words, and people (all the who's in that passage). It was just wonderful to watch how focused they were in this way of studying. Most of small group members were so engaged with our teachings, especially when we show our interesting illustrations and skits to create the need of studying the Bible.
Thank you Jesus for this wonderful people! They as a nation have been so faithfully protecting Christianity since 300AD in spite of all the persecutions they faced throughout their history time. I pray that they would get to know the words of You and You in a very personal way, which would change their lives as going deeper with You, Jesus.
I also pray that all of them in these small groups would continually come back to this Bible study and be impacted by the truths from the words of God!

Going to Armenia soon!
Armenia is the first country where adopted Christianity as their national religion. Over 93% of their populations belongs to the Apostolic church according to Wikipedia Very interestingly enough, this country is surrounded by Islam countries, except Georgia.I have been learning about why we are to teach and preach and how we are to deliver out message to the people in need of knowing the Bible. I have been learning much in these area and especially in the context of outreach. In spite of richness of their Christian heritage in Armenia, they have lack of Bible Study Resources as far as I know. So, that is why our Titus project team is going to Armenia to teach the Bible with an Inductive Method.
One thing that is stuck in my heart is that without knowing what their own culture and history background, it would be very insensitive thing to do for us to preach / teach on anything, which made me to be a bit more serious toward preparing my teachings. I think that it is great that we are already praying for Armenia, researching about Armenia and preparing teachings that we will do in context of being in Armenia. However, I feel that I still don't really know about Armenia. Oh, I desperately need God's grace on this trip!
Lord, please help me to be sensitive to Your Spirit, so that I could be sensitive to your loving children in Armenia while teaching/ preaching Your message to them. And let me be able to build a good relationship with them in spite of language barrier by Your grace, So, they would be excited to learn to study the Bible and experiencing God's grace and love in their life, which could result in sending missionaries to neighbor countries...

The 7 laws of the learner - Revival on us?
As one of our homework is reading this book, 'The seven laws of the Learner by Bruce Wilkinson, I have been reading this book as fully enjoying it. It wasn't for me first time to be introduced to his teaching because I have watched same teaching on his DVD a couple of times before. Nonetheless, I found that this book is again just amazingly helpful and challenging to have right heart for being a teacher.
One of my favorite parts of this book is revival because it did teach me about revival in a refreshing way, which I really agree with. In order to give you some taste of what I mean by this, I would like to quote some part from his book:
'My first writing of this maxim, before searching the Scriptures, produced something like this: "Revival is a sovereign act of God and not the responsibility of man except to be prayed for by the Christian." .....
2Ch 7:14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. .....
There it was, in black and white - a clear and indisputable revelation directly from God that revival was fully dependent on us and not Him! He clearly promised that He would send revival if we fulfilled His conditions. We weren't doing what He requested in order for revival to flood our lives.'
I was convinced by this and had to pray for God to show me if there was anything that I needed to confess my sins. He was so faithful to this prayer, which I wasn't aware of that right after my prayer. When I read this p
But I couldn't go to bed at that night as being reminded of disturbed memories, which I had to pray out to God to let me know why I was being reminded of those memories again. And He revealed the part of reason on that night, which made me crying aloud for a while. And another part of reason was revealed a couple of days later, which I finally understood that I needed His forgiveness badly as confessing my sins.
Thank you Lord for your grace to my sin and faithfulness to my prayer.
I love You soooooo much!!! I cheer You to work on my heart continually even if I know that it gets tough to go through...

Feeling love under wings of God?
This question has been in my heart lately.
I don't really know what it would that be. Yet, I am wondering if people can taste His goodness and love from time to time like these little duck babies can feel warmth, protection & love under wings of their mom.
I have seen deep healing process of someone when Jesus touched deep wounded heart of that person. I bet that no one could bring healing like He did to that person on that day. The person has experienced the sweet presence of Jesus, which I believe that it must have been so warm and loving as a witness of what was happening.
I am just thankful that I could be there to help to open up for Jesus' ministering to this friend. I recognized that I could be a little help just because I have done an IBC/FCM (Foundation for Christian Ministry) for myself. It did help me to know what to do when someone shares heart broken stories.
After all, the gift I received from God to do the counseling school in Hawaii wasn't only for myself but for more.
God is sooooo big all the time!!!

Healing to my heart!
What I have learned during my FCM (Foundation for Counseling Ministry),,,
I used to say that I can trust in God, but I can’t trust myself.
And I also used to easily find myself hearing from my heart “ I am useless and I am not lovable". One thing I realized in this counseling school was that what I was saying to myself was actually that I was saying to God, “God created me useless”. God has spoken to me about this through many different things, doing my journal, reading some books, and finally speaking to me directly; “You look gorgeous to Me, so don’t let others determine how you look. Don’t let the enemy despise on how you look because it means that you let the enemy despise my masterpiece. This would be one little step of how you can also praise and worship Me.”
After listening to this from God, I have convinced that I was sinning against Him as despising myself, whom God has created. So, I had to ask Him for forgiveness that I have done that so many times throughout my life. I started weeping as soon as realizing this thinking that I have almost cursed God as cursing myself.
‘Walls of My heart by Bruce & Barbara Tompson’ confirms my realization that self-pity is not only a bad habit; it’s also a sin. The more we indulge in it, the easier it is to shift into this thinking pattern whenever disagreeable circumstances confront us.
And Tompson says in their book that many people are obsessed with the fear of failure, and when they do fail, they seem unable to recover and learn from the experience. Instead, they fall apart, pre-programmed to believe the words they were told as children. I believe that it is one of the reasons why I had been so stuck with the wrong belief, ‘I am useless’. Through my life experiences, I had been pre-programmed to believe about myself that I am useless.
What I have also realized is that pre-programmed beliefs out of my past experiences can hinder from bringing down the truths to my heart from my head. This gave me an understanding of why it is so important to look back to my past and deal with the wounds in my heart. Otherwise, I can totally act differently than what I actually believe with my mind because another belief is engraved in my heart.
So, I have seen once again that having a surgery for the wounds of my heart is painful but necessary. And I am thankful to God because I believe that He has brought much powerful healing to my heart during this time than ever before.

Healing of God has come to me differently than what I expected
Jer 30:17 For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the LORD, because they have called you an outcast: 'It is Zion, for whom no one cares!'
Isa 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
I was so disappointed by the fact that God didn't heal me my Thyroid cancer before taking a surgery for it. However, when I think about it now, I see that I would have never come to Hawaii to do this counseling school, which I am doing. God has been revealing so much of things in my heart, which I didn't recognize the need of healing before taking this school. I needed much emotional healing and spiritual freedom as much as I needed physical healing.
The thought that I have just got is that perhaps it has already been in God's heart to bring healing to me not only physically but also emotionally and spiritually. Now, I have got much deeper level of healing. It might be just me trying to put everything into a special meaning. Yet, I am thinking why not to think this way...
It is awesome for me to taste God's sweetness as getting more and more of His touch everyday.
Thank You Lord!!! You have always a better plan for me than myself. You once again showed me how faithful Your love toward me is.
Thank You JEHOVAH ROPHE! You are the healer!!!

Fall in 2009
After coming back from Korea, I worked only half time with the school since I needed to take some break after my surgery.
I have taught the book of Acts in the school and done some coaching and grading during this fall term, as well as helping with the preparation for the 2nd and 3rd term of SBS. Other than that, I have tried to take good care of myself to get better soon. But I have realized that something just takes some time.
Eunkyung and myself had a birthday dinner served together by wonderful friends since our birthday was just one day apart from each other.
I was so blessed by many people who remembered my birthday and have blessed me in many different ways while I wasn't really remembering the exact day.
The biggest birthday gift for this year is from God, taking an IBC in Kona, which I explained a bit more about it in detail on my previous blog.
